    Chapter 10 …

    Well Met, You Bastard (1)

At that moment, Choi Deokbae spoke up from beside him.

    <Wait, ‘that It’s bastard.’ don’t him? recognize you>

In an instant, Yoongi lost control.

    Clatter!

As he bolted upright, his chair flew backward, crashing into the wall. But before the sound even echoed, the crisp crack of a fist connecting with a face rang out through the classroom first.

    SMACK!

    “Argh!”

The bastard who had stolen his past life—still holding the fork stabbed into the soy-braised beef—was lifted off his feet for a brief second before crashing hard onto the floor.

    “Y-Yoongi!”

Wonhee looked at Yoongi, wide-eyed with shock and deep admiration. He genuinely believed Yoongi had thrown himself into danger so bravely to defend him. In reality, though, Yoongi had launched himself at the thief for purely personal reasons.

    “Why, you!”

Of course, the thief had a nasty temper of his own and wasn’t about to back down after taking a single hit. Pushing himself up with blood streaming from one nostril, he charged at Yoongi, swinging his fist.

    “How dare you…!”

Yoongi ducked the thief’s punch with ease.

    “…steal!”

Finishing his sentence, he landed a solid counterpunch straight onto the thief’s other nostril.

    CRACK!

Blood squirted from both nostrils, turning the classroom into a scene with a literal blood fountain.

“Whoa, he’s dead meat today. Yoongi is insanely good at fighting.”

At Jinsu’s comment, the gaze of every kid in class, including Wonhee, shifted toward them.

“Really?” “Yeah! He learns Taekwondo, boxing, and Kendo.” “How come I didn’t know that?” “Because you guys aren’t close.” “Hey!”

While Jinsu and Wonhee began bickering, the class’s attention quickly snapped back to Yoongi and the thief. Lying flat on his back, the thief was taking a merciless beatdown from Yoongi. He already looked half-unconscious, but Yoongi showed no signs of stopping.

[What, you think I stole your life? What, am I supposed to apologize? You inherited top-tier genetics and still live like trash, blaming everyone else—that’s why your life ended up like that.]

Those were the exact words he had heard from the thief back when he was chairman. That, and the brutal beating he suffered from the goons the thief sent afterward. As those memories flooded back, Yoongi completely lost his temper.

Choi Deokbae understood why and didn’t bother trying to pull him off, but an unexpected person stepped in to stop him instead.

“Yoongi, stop! Don’t do this on my account!”

When Wonhee threw his arms around him from behind, Yoongi glared back with wild, bloodshot eyes for a brief moment before recognizing Wonhee and coming back to his senses.

“You’re gonna kill him at this rate!”

At Wonhee’s continued plea, Yoongi let out a long sigh and stood up.

Part of me wants to kill him right here, but I have too much to lose to throw it away over him.

He truly wanted to end him. In the past, if he hadn’t submitted, this guy would have killed him without a second thought. But since killing him now meant sacrificing everything he currently held, Yoongi decided to hold back on murder for the time being.

    Instead, I’ll break him completely.

Once Yoongi sat back down, the other kids glanced cautiously at him before slowly gathering around the thief. Yet everyone just watched; no one stepped forward to help the unconscious bully.

    “What’s his name?”

When Yoongi asked, Jinsu answered right away.

“You don’t know Kim Chanyeol?” “No.”

Yoongi had spent his first and second years focused almost entirely on his studies, paying little attention to anything else.

“In first and second grade, he was the famous top fighter in Class 11. He was always beating kids up and taking their money, so everyone hates him.” “Is that so?” “If kids didn’t bring money, he didn’t just beat them up—he’d break their fingers, break their nose bones, or scratch their arms with box cutters. I heard it was no joke. Our classroom was far away so we were fine, but kids in the classrooms near him had a miserable time.”

Listening to Jinsu, Yoongi could clearly see how different the thief’s personality was from his own. In his past life, Yoongi had been beaten like a dog by that butcher every single day, growing timid and becoming an easy target for bullying. Meanwhile, even under those same conditions, this thief was busy tormenting others. He was viciously cunning, too.

Back then, terrifying crimes committed by young kids happened fairly often, and it was notoriously hard to keep those kids in check because the law lacked provisions to punish minors. Kim Chanyeol had clearly figured that out even at a young age—evidenced by the fact that a mere third-grader had zero qualms about breaking other kids’ fingers.

I had a hunch, but hearing the name matches too gives me total peace of mind. Now I can ruin him without holding back.

Though Choi Deokbae had already confirmed it, seeing the guy beaten to a pulp made Yoongi briefly worry if he had beaten the wrong person. Now, however, revenge was the only thing on his mind.

“Yoongi, shouldn’t we take him to the nurse’s office? If something happens to him, you’ll be the one getting in trouble…”

At Wonhee’s suggestion, Yoongi shook his head.

“Leave him. He needs to pay the price for daring to touch the people around me. If I hadn’t been here, you would’ve been his target, right?”

Hearing that, Wonhee looked deeply moved.

“That’s true. I heard once he picks a target, he torments them relentlessly. In second grade, the kid whose family ran the stationery store became his target, and he had to hand over all his school supplies for a whole year.”

    Wonhee’s face turned serious again.

“Then what if Yoongi gets…” “You think I’ll get targeted?”

When Yoongi put on a mock-angry expression, Wonhee hurriedly shook his head side to side.

“Just eat your lunch.” “Got it.”

When the lunch break ended and Park Sunja walked into the classroom, she let out a quiet shriek at the sight of Kim Chanyeol sprawled out in the middle of the back row.

“Eek! Guys, what happened? What on earth occurred here?”

Nobody answered, though. Revealing the truth felt like snitching on Yoongi, so the class stayed silent despite the teacher’s questioning.

    “Class president! What happened?”

To avoid dealing with annoying duties, the class president role was held by Wonhee rather than Yoongi. Though, of course, Yoongi served as the vice president.

    “Um, well…”

Wonhee squeezed his eyes shut and shouted.

“I hit him!” “I hit him!”

Two voices called out simultaneously. When Jinsu also raised his hand claiming responsibility, Park Sunja narrowed her eyes.

“Are you boys lying to me right now?”

At Sunja’s sharp tone, both Jinsu and Wonhee flinched, but they shouted once more.

“I did it.” “I told you, I did it!”

    Finally, Yoongi raised his hand.

“I’m sorry, Teacher. He was stealing other kids’ lunches during break and ruining the atmosphere, so I hit him.” “Even so… For now, I’m taking Chanyeol to the nurse’s office, so everyone study quietly!”

Sunja hoisted Chanyeol up and quickly left the classroom.

“You heard her! Everyone study quietly!”

At Wonhee’s command, the entire class looked toward Yoongi before quietly settling down to study.

Kim Chanyeol ultimately had to be taken to a nearby hospital. While he was getting treated and admitted, Park Sunja and Yoongi were having a conversation in the empty nurse’s office.

“Um, Yoongi… didn’t you beat him up a bit too severely today…?”

If a normal student had caused a scene like this, Sunja would have delivered a sharp slap across the face to blow off steam and establish fear. But since the culprit was Yoongi, her tone was extraordinarily polite, almost as if she were addressing the school principal.

“From what I heard, he’s pretty infamous. I felt I had to go that far so he’d stay quiet from now on.”

Though it was an excuse made up after the fact, Yoongi delivered the lie smoothly, and Sunja bought it completely.

“Still, it seems a bit excessive…” “I’ll be careful in the future. I’m sorry.”

When Yoongi bowed his head, Sunja nodded along. At the end of the day, even if Kim Chanyeol ended up hospitalized, she wasn’t losing anything personally.

It’d be my loss if I upset Yoongi and lost the tutoring gig.

At the same time, a stray thought crossed her mind.

Did he ask me to convince the chairman to let him take martial arts lessons just for moments like this?

While Yoongi didn’t actually receive academic tutoring from Sunja, he did rely on her advice to guide his study pace and direction—such as middle school level material or physical conditioning through sports.

    • “Sports? Won’t that take away from his study time?” At his grandfather’s question, Yoongi had shaken his head. “Teacher told me that building up physical stamina through exercise gives you the stamina to study better.” “Is that true?” Faced with Choi Gihyeon’s serious gaze, Park Sunja had nodded promptly. “Of course. You need physical stamina to excel at studying. Besides, considering military drill classes later on, building stamina early can only help.” “What if the boy gets side-tracked and decides to become an athlete…” “I will take full responsibility for his education to ensure that never happens, so please don’t worry.” “Then I have no choice but to trust you. I assume you know what my trust entails?” “Of course.” *

Recalling that past conversation with Choi Gihyeon, a cold sweat ran down Sunja’s back from the remembered tension. But shaking her head slightly, she dismissed her suspicion as overthinking.

No way, he’s just a child. Besides, he wanted to learn Taekwondo to join Jinsu, and he wanted to learn boxing because it looked cool on TV.

Done weighing her options, Sunja offered a sweet smile and spoke to Yoongi.

“Yoongi, I know you’re the vice president and that you’re trying to look out for the classroom atmosphere, but it’s best to avoid going too far like today. Okay?” “Yes, I’ll be careful from now on.”

Since Yoongi had never caused trouble outside of this single incident, Sunja almost reached out to pat his head before remembering he was the “chairman’s grandson,” quickly tucking her hand behind her back with a nod instead.

“Alright, you may head back now.” “Yes. I’ll head back first then.”

As Yoongi turned his back on Sunja, Choi Deokbae’s voice echoed quietly beside him.

<Whoa, at devilish face. kid… look that this>

Discharged after three days, Kim Chanyeol couldn’t even meet Yoongi’s eyes after taking such a brutal beating. But that was as far as his discipline went.

Thinking anyone outside of Yoongi, Jinsu, and Wonhee was still fair game, he opened the backpack of a timid boy whose family ran a supermarket the moment break time started.

    “Hey, give it back…”

The timid boy put up a weak resistance, but his words only gave Kim Chanyeol an excuse to push further.

“Hey, I’m just looking! Did I take it? Huh?”

He was digging through it to swipe anything good, but the timid boy lacked the nerve to stand up to him.

    However—

    SMACK!

With a satisfying crack, Chanyeol’s forehead slammed vertically into the desk, making a loud thud.

    “Who did that?!”

Leaping out of his seat with a furious glare, Chanyeol’s eyes suddenly began trembling uncontrollably.

    “Stop acting up.” “O-Okay…”

Catching Yoongi’s razor-sharp glare, Chanyeol immediately tucked his tail, dropped the backpack, and slunk back to his seat. Yoongi picked up the bag and handed it back to its original owner.

    “Thank you, Yoongi!”

Looking at Yoongi as if he were a superhero, the boy offered his gratitude. Yoongi gave a slight smile before sitting down.

It won’t end here, though. That guy is a relentless bastard.

Just as Yoongi expected, Kim Chanyeol kept trying to pick fights with other kids. But every time he did, Yoongi stepped in—smacking the back of his head or kicking his rear—to shut him down, steadily shrinking his standing in the classroom. In just a few days, the other kids were already beginning to stand up to Chanyeol.

Yet the main climax was still to come.

Once Kim Chanyeol was almost completely isolated in class, Yoongi walked up to him and shoved his backpack forward.

“Carry my bag from today on. You used to force plenty of other kids to do it, so you’ve got no room to complain, right?”

Even with his past beatings fresh in mind, Chanyeol’s built-up frustration over the last ten days boiled over. He lunged at Yoongi again, only to get beaten to within an inch of his life once more.

<Are a now or right ritual something? summoning using you>

    Choi Deokbae asked meaningfully.

That butcher bastard would just sit around drinking alcohol even if his kid died. <So IS a it right? ritual, summoning>

    Yoongi offered a knowing smile.

And just like that smile implied, the very next day, the butcher showed up in the classroom with a look of pure rage.

“WHO THE HELL IS CHOI YOONGI?!”
