    Chapter 15

With a heavily contorted face, Rigan fired spells like crazy at the magical beast.

So much so that the black Aether tracing the spell formulas completely covered his form.

Leona watched Rigan with a half-bored expression.

“Judging by the visual alone, he looks more like the magical beast.”

Unfortunately, however, Rigan’s attacks didn’t have much effect.

For some reason, every time Rigan attacked, the magical beast rapidly recovered its strength.

And the reason was revealed by one of the constellations.

**[Rolling Rolling Roulette]: It said it’s a beast that gains power from shame! Rigan, if you keep being embarrassed like that, the shame will transfer to the beast and this will never end!**

Seeing that message, Leona looked at Rigan and spoke.

“Hey, when you’re fighting, you might get caught by the enemy sometimes, you know? Are you still embarrassed about that?”

Somehow, that tone of voice, as if treating him like a child, made Rigan snap.

    “That’s not it! Earlier you—”

    “You? You what?”

Unable to bring himself to say ‘princess carry,’ Rigan’s face flushed red once more.

And as if on cue, the Shame Magical Beast, the kraken, put even more force into its attacks.

**[Tooth Decay King]: Look at Rigan’s ears turning red. You could probably use him as a heater.**

In the end, seeing no sign of this ending anytime soon, Leona shouted.

“Hey, just let me handle the beast. I’m fine since I have ‘this’!”

Leona teasingly waved the charm in front of Rigan’s eyes.

It was the sachet she had received from the girl earlier, which was effective against the kraken.

Rigan’s face twisted even further as he watched her.

    ‘Ah, this is so satisfying!’

Leona was in a great mood, having found a way to tease Rigan.

‘So much for saying it was superstition! You should have come with me when I told you to!’

Leona laughed, pushed Rigan back, and raised her sword.

    *Thwack*—.

Then, humming a tune, she struck the beast with the flat of her broad sword.

    “Ah, that felt good!”

    “Well done, Leona!”

The angel had quickly run over and started cheering her on.

“This guy seems weaker than I thought! Can I just keep hitting him like this?”

“Yep! If it takes enough damage that it can’t withstand it, it will return to its original form. Then you can seal it.”

    “Easy!”

Just as Leona, relieved, was freely pounding away at the magical beast—

**[Corrupted Power Warrior]: But even with tentacles appearing, they’re only showing fighting.**

**[Only Pure Love]: Right. I came to this channel for romance. It’s just been fighting nonstop.**

**[Noodle-Making Master]: Change it to a 19+ channel now!**

**[Seoin Malgo Dongin]: Ah, maybe I should just unsubscribe…**

Some constellations, bored with the continuous battle, started posting messages left and right.

And the final destination of that conversation was, as expected, causing an incident.

**[Rolling Rolling Roulette]: Let’s do something before the beast gets sealed!

[High-Performance Juicer]: Since it’s an island, how about destroying the boat first? Vote?**

The moment those words fell, the next chat window appeared on the screen.

    **Vote Results Announcement**

    – **Destroy the boat and isolate them on the island (455 votes)**

    – **Send them home quietly (1 vote)**

**[The will of the gods descends upon the world.]**

    “Again?!”

Seeing the exact same development as when their hands had been stuck together last time, Leona was horrified.

    “What’s going on?”

Rigan, who had been taking deep breaths behind her to control his anger and shame, rushed over upon hearing Leona’s scream.

Then, seeing the chat window brilliantly displayed around the angel, he froze on the spot.

Just as the two were speechless at the absurd turn of events—

    *Krrrooooaar!*

The magical beast, which had been solely taking hits from Leona, seized this opportunity to attack.

Raising its few remaining, tattered legs, the beast gathered all its remaining strength and delivered its final blow.

The problem was its direction. Perhaps weakened from Leona’s attacks, the beast staggered and aimed not at the two of them, but at an unexpected target.

    *Crash, bang*—.

    “No!”

The boat, which had been accumulating damage from the fight all along, was instantly reduced to a pile of scrap metal.

    “The boat really is destroyed!”

Leona screamed at the pitiful sight.

Leona’s enraged sword struck the magical beast’s head directly.

    *Kuuooogh…*

Having already exhausted most of its strength, and with Leona’s anger-filled attack added on top, the beast could no longer endure.

Ultimately, it let out a final death cry and returned to its original form—a black pebble.

    “……”

    *Tumble, tumble*.

The sound of the black pebble rolling echoed loudly in the ears of the bewildered Leona and Rigan.

“So, it seems the goal was to destroy the boat and isolate us on the island.”

“What are they trying to achieve by keeping us trapped here?”

    “I have no idea.”

Leona honestly wanted to know what the constellations were thinking.

**[Noodle-Making Master]: Hehe. It’s a classic that transcends all dimensions.**

**[Corrupted Power Warrior]: What to do? The boat’s gone. I don’t know, I don’t know.**

**[Tooth Decay King]: As expected, the taste you know is the best~~~.**

For Leona, who had lived her entire life without knowing even the first letter of ‘romance,’ it wasn’t easy to understand.

In the end, not knowing how to respond, the two decided to first do what needed to be done.

    “Let’s clean up first.”

So they first gave the village chief a brief explanation of the situation.

Of course, leaving out the detailed story about the magical beast, they had coordinated the story to make it seem like an Aether criminal case.

After that, the two tended to the injured villagers.

“I’ll move the people; you cast recovery magic on them.”

With skills that belied their status as new recruits, the two tended to the injured.

They also rescued Todd, who had collapsed deep inside the mine, and made sure to detain him along with the unconscious Jake.

They planned to send them to the temple for further investigation.

“Phew, I think this is enough?”

Just as things were roughly wrapping up—

Exhausted from running around frantically, the two received news that hit them like a thunderbolt.

“Excuse me? There’s only one room left?”

“I’m really sorry to our benefactors who helped us like this… but there are so many injured people…”

The village chief said with a truly apologetic expression.

Only then did the two realize what the constellations had hoped to gain by destroying the boat.

    “These crazy gods are really…”

    Leona gritted her teeth.

She didn’t have the slightest desire to share a room with Rigan, but she couldn’t take the beds away from the patients who had been hanging like cocoons in the mine for over a day.

The only empty room available was barely created by the elderly village chief offering to clear out his storage room.

    “Then, the boat…”

“The damaged boat is currently inoperable, but Mivatosh has agreed to send another one tomorrow.”

The conclusion was that the two would have to sleep in the same room for the night.

**[Tooth Decay King]: Kyaa, this is it!**

**[Noodle-Making Master]: With this method, we once increased this dimension’s population by 10% lololol**

The constellations were practically in a festive mood.

Conversely, Leona and Rigan’s faces grew sour.

‘I’m already tired from not sleeping well yesterday.’

It had only been a day since the two had gone to the Vatican and suffered with their hands stuck together.

On top of that, they had struggled to seal a magical beast.

In fact, their minds were more exhausted than their bodies.

    ‘A soft bed…’

At this point, if she could just take a warm shower and lie down on a bed, she felt like she could do anything.

    Leona glanced at Rigan.

‘But there’s no way this bastard will yield… Would it be too shameless to suggest a wrestling match to decide? Then rock-paper-scissors?’

As Leona was racking her brain—

Rigan was looking at her, lost in thought.

‘I can tell exactly what she’s thinking. She’s probably pondering how to take me down and claim the room.’

It wasn’t exactly a wrong guess.

Rigan let out a small sigh.

He knew how hard Leona had run around today to save people—including himself.

‘Maybe I should just tough it out outside tonight.’

The usual him would never have even considered sleeping outside.

But Rigan was a man with a conscience.

Truth be told, more than anything, he absolutely wanted to avoid spending the night in the same room as Leona again, like yesterday.

‘I think the slime’s effects are still lingering a bit…’

If he were with Leona and ended up showing an ugly side of himself, how mortifying would that be?

Having made that resolution, Rigan was just about to say he would yield the room—

    “Hey, you can swim, right?”

Leona said something completely out of the blue.

    “What?”

Rigan asked, flustered, and Leona tilted her head.

    “You can’t swim?”

“Why are you asking that all of a sudden… Surely you’re not thinking of swimming across that?”

Surely no matter how simple-minded she was, if she had a brain, she wouldn’t think of such a thing…

“You can’t do it? If you’re scared, just stay behind.”

    …She did.
