Synopsis
“Mother, please stop. I’m sorry. It was my fault.”
“How could you say such things unless you’ve completely lost your mind!”
The louder his mother’s voice grew, the more vivid red handprints appeared across his half-exposed wife’s back.
He didn’t love her, but he couldn’t leave her to suffer under his mother’s relentless abuse.
“Pack your things. We’re leaving right now.”
He took his wife and left the house.
From that day on, the couple, who had been little more than strangers, began living together.
There was only about a month left until their marriage contract expired.
Time was steadily moving toward their divorce, but…
